Dear UK and Ireland playbackers, it’s been a while!
We in the Two Islands Committee have been taking time to reflect on all the feedback we received during (and after) our Gathering in May. There’s been a lot to process and digest. Following a break over the summer, we’ve just started to meet regularly again. But before we say more about that we’d like to share some souvenirs of our time together in Buckden.
We’ve assembled a BIG folder of photos and short video clips from the Cross Pollination event that you can access here. You can download any that have meaning for you but please don’t share them on social media without the permission of the other people involved. If you click here you can see a short celebratory video created by Ferran (this video is not publicly listed so it can only be seen by those with the link).
The video also features in a short piece we did for the latest IPTN Journal, which you can read in the Event Reports section here. If you haven’t already seen the Journal, we encourage you to check out the wide range of writing about Playback Theatre that it contains – including an article about a project undertaken by our very own True Heart Theatre.
Now that autumn is upon us, we have resumed our regular meetings and started to think about next steps for our Two Islands Network and how we can move forward with all the important and valuable learning we’ve absorbed. We have the beginnings of some ideas about next steps, and we look forward to sharing these with you and developing them together in the coming weeks and months.
In the meantime here’s a quick reminder of the various options that are in place to help us connect, collaborate, share information and discuss key topics and themes:
- Our Website and shared calendar
- Our WhatsApp Community (this now has several groups you can sign up to: General Chat, Centering Global Majority Voices, Announcements, Performances and Jams, Supervision, Sharing Resources, Training and Workshops)
- Our Facebook page and Instagram account
Finally, as we enter the season of letting go and transition, there’s been some changes in our team. Andy and Agi have stepped down from the organising group and we invite you to join us in giving them big hugs and pats on their backs to thank them for all their hard work over the past two years.
Don’t forget that we are always keen to hear any thoughts or suggestions you might have for nurturing and sustaining our Two Islands Playback Theatre community.
Warmly,
Anna, Bel, Ferran, Ivy, Lexy, Lou, Marcin, Sarah, and Steve.
